Tide KeepRelease 2026.10.1

Privacy & Data

Tide Keep has no account of its own and no Odd Omens server. It has no ads, analytics, crash reporting or tracking. Your game is kept on your device and backed up to your own iCloud. If you turn on online play, a copy of your castle and your raids are shared with other players through Apple's Game Center and iCloud.

What Tide Keep stores on your device

DataNotes
Your island game: gold, defenses, upgrades, islands, Renown, Infamy, achievements, stats, pearls, looks, event progress, redeemed codes and purchasesPurchases are also kept by the App Store. The game keeps the IDs of pearl purchases it has delivered, so none is paid twice.
Your Harbor: captain name, Captain level, Doubloons, ships, parts, trophies, shields, the raid log with replays, captains you've reported or blocked, and raids waiting to upload
Your settings: your name, Lord or Lady, your home island's name, looks and preferences
The castle layouts you've shared online, with whenUsed to check raids against your castle
The latest news, bonus weekend, holiday dates and Omens dates from Odd OmensSo they keep working offline
A random ID for this installTells your iCloud saves from different devices apart
The parent PIN, if you set oneKept in the iOS Keychain as a salted one-way hash, never as the PIN itself. It stays on the device even if you delete the game.

iCloud backup

If you're signed in to iCloud, Tide Keep backs up your whole game to your own private iCloud database: the island game, the Harbor and your settings, plus a short summary (island, Renown, ships sunk, total gold), when it was saved and the install's random ID. Odd Omens can't read your private iCloud data.

Backups happen a little while after something changes, when you leave the app, and straight after a purchase. Settings > iCloud backup shows when it last backed up; tap it to back up now.

When you open Tide Keep on another iPhone or iPad with the same iCloud account:

  • If that device has no game yet, your game is restored straight away.
  • If it has its own game, you choose iCloud game or This device's game. The one you don't keep is replaced.

If another device saves a newer game while you're playing, backups from this device pause so they can't overwrite it. Close and reopen Tide Keep to choose which game to keep.

Online play

Online play is off until you turn it on in Settings > Online. While it's on, Tide Keep uses Game Center and a shared iCloud database that every Tide Keep player can read.

What's shared

DataWho can see it
Your castle: your Game Center player ID for Tide Keep, castle stage, wall and tower levels and weapons, island, castle colour, emblem and its colour, stone and grass, defense plan, Infamy, Renown, ships sunk, captain name (or that it's hidden), Captain level, trophies, shield time, when you were last active and the app versionOther Tide Keep players, who find and invade it
Raids you make: your and the defender's player IDs, your captain name and level, both trophy counts, the castle you fought, your fleet (classes, parts, looks and ship names), lanes, and the result, so the battle can be replayedThe captain you invaded
Name reports you send: your player ID, the reported player's ID and name, and the reasonOdd Omens
Invasion alerts, if you turn them on: a request to be notified about raids on your player IDApple, to deliver the notification
Leaderboard scores: trophies, ships sunk, highest Infamy and Captain levelGame Center players, with your Game Center name

Your game uses Game Center's player ID, which is different in every game, not your Apple Account. iCloud records which account wrote each shared record using an anonymous ID that's specific to Tide Keep, so only you can change or delete your castle and raids.

Your captain name is checked for rude words before it's shared, and checked again on every device before it's shown. Hide my name shows you as "A Mysterious Captain". There's no chat.

If Screen Time restricts online play on your Game Center account, your castle isn't shared, and only scores go to the leaderboards.

Game Center friends

Tide Keep reads your Game Center friends list only when you tap Visit a friend in the Harbor, to find friends who've shared a castle. iOS asks for permission the first time. Friends don't learn about a visit.

What else leaves your device

Permissions

PermissionWhen it's askedWhat it's for
Game Center sign-inWhen you turn on Play onlineWho you are online, leaderboards
Game Center friendsThe first time you tap Visit a friendFinding friends' castles
NotificationsWhen you turn on Invasion alertsA notification when your castle is invaded
Face IDThe first time you use Forgot PIN? on a device with Face IDConfirming you own the device before the parent PIN is reset. Tide Keep only learns whether it succeeded.

Tide Keep also uses your iCloud account, without a separate prompt, for the backup and for online play. To stop the iCloud backup, turn off iCloud for Tide Keep in the iOS Settings app under your name > iCloud.

Export your data

Tide Keep doesn't have an export feature. Your whole game is in your iCloud backup, which moves with you to a new device.

Delete your data

Online data

  1. Open Settings > Online.
  2. Tap Delete my online data, then Delete.

This removes your shared castle, every raid you made and your invasion alerts, resets your trophies and raid log, and turns online play off. Your ships, Doubloons and Captain level stay on your device.

Some things aren't removed:

  • Raids other captains made against your castle belong to them.
  • Name reports you sent stay with Odd Omens.
  • Leaderboard scores stay in Game Center.
  • If your castle was shared from a different iCloud account, Tide Keep says so. Sign in to that account and delete again.

Turning off Play online on its own leaves your last shared castle online.

Your game

  • Reset progress in Settings starts the island game over. The reset game then replaces your iCloud backup. See Settings for what's kept.
  • Deleting the app removes the game from your device, but not from iCloud. The parent PIN stays on the device.
  • Your iCloud backup: in the iOS Settings app, go to your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage, choose Tide Keep if it's listed, and delete its data.
