FenRelease 2026.10.1

Getting Started

Fen has no sign-up and no setup steps. Open it, create a wallet, and start adding entries.

First launch

The first time you open Fen you'll see a few things:

  1. iOS asks whether Fen can send notifications. Fen uses them only for subscription and goal reminders. You can change this later in iOS Settings.
  2. An Updated Terms & Privacy notice. Tap Read Terms of Service or Read Privacy Policy to read them, or Continue to agree and close it.
  3. A What's New in Fen screen listing changes in the current version. Tap Continue.

If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, Fen starts syncing your data through your iCloud account right away. See Privacy & Data.

The home screen

The home screen greets you by name and summarizes your money across all wallets:

  • Available this year: revenue minus expenses dated in the current calendar year. If it's negative, Fen says you're "in the red this year."
  • Lifetime balance: revenue minus expenses across all dates.

Below that is a card for each wallet showing its type, name, this year's balance and its Lifetime balance.

The toolbar has three buttons:

Tips

  • Set your currency symbol first in Settings. It's used on every screen.
  • Use the same spelling for a merchant each time. The expense summary, Merchant Summary and Search all group or match by the merchant name you type.
  • Long-press most items (wallets, expenses, revenue, subscriptions, goals, cards, documents) to see more actions.
