Accounts

You need a free Salvo account to play. There's no guest play. Your account holds your rank, stats, unlocks, classes, operator looks and most of your settings, so they follow you to any browser you sign in on.

Salvo doesn't ask for your email address, real name or phone number.

Create an account

  1. Open salvo.oddomens.com.
  2. Choose Create account.
  3. Enter a Username and a Password.
  4. Under When were you born?, choose your birth month and year.
  5. Tick I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  6. Choose Create account.

New accounts get a short walkthrough. See Getting Started.

Usernames

  • 3 to 16 characters: letters, numbers and underscores only.
  • Not case-sensitive for matching, so Rook and rook are the same name.
  • Names that contain swearing or slurs are refused, including spellings that swap in numbers or look-alike letters.
  • Some names are reserved, such as admin, moderator, salvo and support. Names that start with "bot" are also reserved, so players can't pass themselves off as bots.
  • A name someone else gave up in the last 7 days is still taken.

Passwords

  • 8 to 128 characters.
  • It can't contain your username.
  • Very easy passwords are refused, such as a single repeated character or anything starting with password, 12345678 or qwertyui.

Salvo stores only a salted, one-way scrypt hash of your password, never the password itself.

No password reset

Salvo doesn't collect an email address, so it can't send password reset links. Keep your password somewhere safe, such as a password manager.

Age requirement

Salvo is for players 13 and older. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.

The sign-up form asks only for your birth month and year, not the day. If you're under 13, the game shows "Salvo is for players 13 and older." No account is created and nothing you entered is kept.

Accounts made before the age check was added are asked for a birth month and year at their next sign-in. If the answer is under 13, the account is deleted and you see Account closed.

  1. Open salvo.oddomens.com.
  2. On Log in, enter your Username and Password.
  3. Choose Log in.

You stay signed in on that browser for up to 30 days. Each time the game refreshes your sign-in, the 30 days start again, so you stay signed in as long as you keep playing.

If you sign in to the same account somewhere else while you're in a match, the older connection is closed.

Too many failed attempts

To protect your account, sign-in slows down after repeated wrong passwords:

  • After 5 wrong passwords for the same account from the same network, you have to wait 30 seconds. Each further wrong password doubles the wait, up to 15 minutes. The count resets after 30 minutes without a wrong password.
  • If an account gets 40 wrong passwords from networks its owner has never used, sign-in from those networks is paused for 60 seconds, doubling up to 5 minutes. Your usual networks aren't affected.

You'll see "Too many failed attempts. Try again in" followed by the wait.

Terms updates

When the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy change, a dialog appears the next time you sign in. Read the updated documents, tick the box and choose Agree and continue, or choose Sign out. You can't join a match until you agree.

Your account settings

Most account controls are on the Career tab under Account.

Change your username

You can change your username once every 30 days. Your player ID never changes, so your stats, unlocks and settings stay with you.

  1. Go to Career > Account.
  2. Enter the new Username and your password in Password to confirm.
  3. Choose Change username.

Your old name is held for you for 7 days before anyone else can take it. Odd Omens keeps a record of every name an account has used.

If an admin asks you to change an offensive name, a Choose a new username dialog appears when you sign in. That change doesn't count toward your 30-day limit.

Change your password

  1. Go to Career > Account.
  2. Enter your Current password and a New password.
  3. Choose Change password.

Changing your password signs you out on every other device.

Log out

Go to Career > Account and choose Log out. This signs out only the browser you're using.

Hide your name in Rankings

The top 50 players are listed on the Rankings tab. You choose whether your name shows there during the first-time walkthrough. To change it later, go to Settings > Privacy and switch Show my name in Rankings on or off.

When your name is hidden:

  • Everyone else sees "Hidden Player" in Rankings, and can't look you up by name.
  • You still see your own name, with a Hidden tag.
  • Your stats still count and you still rank.
  • Players in the same match still see your name.

Download your data

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy.
  2. Under Your data, choose Download.

You get a JSON file named salvo-<username>-data.json with everything Salvo stores about your account. See Privacy & Data for what's in it. You can download it 3 times an hour.

Delete your account

  1. Go to Career > Account.
  2. Enter your password in Password to confirm deletion.
  3. Choose Delete account, then confirm.

WARNING

Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. Your rank, stats, unlocks, classes, friends, messages and Outbreak survivors are deleted straight away.

A few records are kept after deletion. See Privacy & Data.

Redeem a code

Odd Omens sometimes shares promo codes that unlock weapon camos, character skins, XP or Outbreak gear.

  1. Choose Redeem code (the gift icon) in the menu's top bar. You can also open it from the camo picker in Loadout, or open a link that ends in ?code= followed by the code.
  2. Enter the code. Codes aren't case-sensitive.
  3. Choose Redeem.

Each account can redeem a code once. Codes can expire or run out. After 8 wrong codes in 10 minutes, you have to wait before trying again.

Promo camos unlock on every weapon. Promo skins are worn from Operators > Skins.
