Updating

Your data lives in ./data, outside the container, so updating keeps it. Releases and their notes are on the Releases page, and in Version History.

Update

In your OpenConnect folder:

bash
git pull
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d # published images

Or, if you build from source:

bash
git pull
docker compose up -d --build

git pull keeps your compose files current. The database is upgraded automatically when the new version starts.

Pin a Version

By default, Compose runs the latest published image. To stay on one version, set it in .env:

ini
OPENCONNECT_VERSION=1.2.0

Without Docker

bash
git pull
npm install
npm run dev

Back Up

All data lives in ./data: dashboard.db (SQLite) for the dashboard, and studio/ for the screenshot studio.

  • Copy ./data while the container is stopped (docker compose stop).

  • Or back up the database while it runs:

    bash
docker exec openconnect node -e "require('better-sqlite3')('/app/data/dashboard.db').backup('/app/data/backup.db')"

    This writes ./data/backup.db.

Your API key details are in .env and keys/, which you may want to keep a copy of too.

Start Over

Stop the container and delete ./data. The next start asks for a new password and syncs everything again.

Forgot the Password

  • If it's set with OPENCONNECT_PASSWORD: change it in .env and restart.

  • Otherwise: remove the stored password, restart, and choose a new one with a fresh setup code from docker logs openconnect:

    bash
docker exec openconnect node -e "require('better-sqlite3')('/app/data/dashboard.db').prepare(\"DELETE FROM settings WHERE key='auth_password'\").run()"
    docker compose restart
