Troubleshooting & FAQ
I'm not getting notifications
- Go to Customize and check System Notifications. It should say Granted. If it says Open Settings, tap it and allow notifications for Afternoon.
- For a habit, open it and check that Reminders has at least one reminder with its switch on.
- For a task, make sure it has a time and Get Notification? is on. Notifications aren't scheduled for times that have already passed.
- For a date reminder, check that it's turned on in Manage Reminders.
A habit isn't showing in my day
- Check the habit's Start Date and End Date. Habits only appear between them.
- Check Manage Habits. It may be under Archived Habits. Select it and tap Unarchive.
- If Hide Completed Items is on in Customize, finished habits are hidden.
I can't check off a habit or task
You can't complete items on a future date. Go back to today or an earlier day.
A habit or task got a time I didn't type
Quick Add reads a standalone number as a time. "Read 20 pages" becomes "Read pages" at 8:00 PM. Edit the item to fix the name and time, or create items with numbers in their names from Manage Habits or Manage Tasks.
A task from last week is on today
That's on purpose. Unfinished tasks move to today so you don't lose them. See Tasks.
Skipping a day ended my streak
A skip isn't a completion, so a daily streak stops on a skipped day. Skips do count under Skipped instead of Missed, and they don't lower that day's completion ring.
My calendar events aren't showing
- Go to Settings > Calendar and check that it says Calendar Connected.
- If you turned access off in iOS, go to the iOS Settings app, then Apps > Afternoon > Calendars, and allow full access.
- Events appear on the All tab and in the Planner, not on the Habits or Tasks tabs.
Nothing is being written to Apple Health
- Check that Settings > Apple Health says Connected and that the habit's switch is on.
- Only the Water Intake and Mindfulness categories write data.
- The habit needs a goal so there's an amount to write. See Apple Health.
The language didn't change
Close Afternoon completely and open it again. The language changes after a restart.
My data isn't syncing between devices
- Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account on both devices.
- In the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, and check that Afternoon is allowed to use iCloud.
- Give it a few minutes with both devices online. Sync runs in the background through iCloud.
Customize settings, such as your accent color and bookend times, don't sync. Set them on each device.
I see an "Updated Terms & Privacy" message
Afternoon shows this once when the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy change. Tap Read Terms of Service or Read Privacy Policy to read them, or Continue to close it.
