Planner & Time Blocks

The Planner tab lays out your day on a 24-hour timeline, so you can see how your time is actually spent. Time blocks let you reserve stretches of the day for focus, meetings, exercise and so on.

The Planner timeline

Tap Planner on the main screen. The timeline is split into 15-minute rows and shows:

ItemHow long it appears
Time blocksFrom their start time to their end time
Habits with a time30 minutes
Tasks with a time30 minutes
Reminders15 minutes at their notification time
Calendar eventsTheir full length, with the location if there is one. Needs calendar access.

Items without a time don't appear in the Planner.

When you open today, the timeline scrolls to the current time and shows a line at the current minute. For other days, it scrolls to your wake-up time. Items that overlap sit side by side.

To change days, tap the date under the greeting.

Working in the Planner

  • Tap the circle on a habit to cycle it through done, skipped and not done.
  • Tap the circle on a task to mark it done or not done.
  • Double tap a habit, task or time block to edit it.

Calendar events and time blocks don't have a circle. Tapping the circle on a reminder turns that reminder off.

Create a time block

  • Use Quick Add with the time block type selected. Type a time, such as "Deep work 9am", or the block starts at the current time of day. A one-hour block is created and opened so you can adjust it.
  • Or open the menu, tap Manage Time Blocks, then tap +. Blocks made here are for today.

The time block form has:

SectionFields
Basic InformationTitle, Type and Notes (optional)
TimingStart Time and End Time. Duration is calculated for you.
RepeatTurn on Repeat, then choose a Pattern

Types are Focus Time, Break, Meeting, Personal, Work, Exercise and Study. Each has its own icon.

The checkmark stays disabled until the block has a title and the end time is after the start time.

Repeating time blocks

PatternRepeats on
Every DayEvery day
Weekdays (Mon-Fri)Monday to Friday
WeekendsSaturday and Sunday
Custom DaysThe days you pick under Select Days

A repeating block appears from its first date onward. Deleting the original block also removes its repeats.

Conflicts

When you edit a block from the Planner or Manage Time Blocks and it overlaps another time block, a Conflicts Detected section lists the overlapping blocks. When you save, Afternoon asks whether to Save Anyway.

Edit or delete a time block

Double tap a time block in the Planner or on the All tab, or tap it in Manage Time Blocks. To delete it, tap Delete Time Block at the bottom of the form.

Manage Time Blocks

Open the menu and tap Manage Time Blocks to see every time block you've created. Tap one to edit it, or tap + to add one.

To delete several at once:

  1. Tap the select button (a circle with a check) at the top right.
  2. Tap blocks to select them, or tap Select All.
  3. Tap Delete.

Deleting can't be undone.
