Troubleshooting & FAQ
macOS won't open Realm Lore
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to the message about Realm Lore. See Getting Started.
An update doesn't finish installing
Download the latest DMG from the GitHub releases page, quit Realm Lore and replace the app in your Applications folder. Your worlds are stored separately and aren't affected.
My world's name has underscores in it
World names can only contain letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. Realm Lore replaces anything else, including spaces, with an underscore when it creates the folder.
Changes I made in another editor don't show up
Realm Lore reads your files when a world loads. Switch to another world and back, or quit and reopen Realm Lore.
I need an older version of an entry
Each time Realm Lore saves a file, it keeps the previous version next to it with .bak added to the name. To use it:
- Quit Realm Lore.
- In your world folder, find the entry's
.mdfile and its.md.bakcopy. You can search the folder for the entry's name to find the right file. - Rename the
.bakfile to replace the.mdfile.
For older versions, use your automated backups.
Restoring from the Trash fails
Restore puts the file back at its original path. If a file already exists there, the restore stops instead of overwriting it.
Search doesn't find a lore entry
⌘K search covers characters, locations, things, factions, creatures, books, maps and chapters. To find a lore entry, open the Lore list from the Overview page and use its search box.
The Stamps panel is empty
Realm Lore doesn't come with stamps. Copy PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP images into ~/Library/Application Support/realm-lore/customStamps/, then click Refresh stamp list. See Maps.
My iPad can't connect with Remote Access
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Type the address exactly as shown in Settings > Remote, including
http://and:5181. - If macOS asked whether Realm Lore can accept incoming connections, make sure you allowed it. Check System Settings > Network > Firewall > Options.
Where can I find error details?
Realm Lore writes unexpected errors to ~/Library/Application Support/realm-lore/crash.log. Include it when you email support@oddomens.com or report an issue.
