OddlyticsRelease 1.0.2

Dashboard

The dashboard is a web app that reads from your Worker. A narrow sidebar on the left holds Overview, Users, an icon for each app that has sent events, and Settings at the bottom.

Overview

The home page summarizes every app for the Default Time Range set in Settings (7 days unless you change it).

  • Welcome card: the number of events, plus badges for active apps, sessions and users.
  • Total Events: events in the time range, with the change against the period of the same length just before it.
  • Your Apps: every app with its event count. Click one to open its page.
  • Top Events: a pie chart of the ten most common event names across all apps, with the top three listed.
  • Activity: a bar chart of how many events each app has sent in total.

Apps appear in the sidebar and in Your Apps as soon as they send their first event. There is nothing to register.

App Pages

Click an app in the sidebar or in Your Apps to open its page. At the top:

  • Total Events, all time.
  • Unique Users, all time.
  • Top Event, with how many times it happened.
  • Timeline Peaks, the busiest day in the last 14 days.

Below them:

  • Events (Last 14 Days): an area chart of events per day.
  • Daily Active Users: a heatmap of the last 365 days, one square per day, shaded by how many distinct users sent events that day.
  • Group sections: one section for each group the app uses, listing its events by count.
  • All Events: every event name the app has sent, ordered by frequency, with a bar relative to the most common one.

Renaming Events

Hover over an event in a group section or in All Events and click the pencil to open Rename Event. Enter a display name and click Save Name. The new name shows wherever that app's event appears in the dashboard. Your app keeps sending the original name, and the stored events don't change.

Display names are saved in the Worker's database (event_aliases), per app.

Customize App

Click Customize App to set:

  • Display Name, shown in the sidebar, the app list and the page title instead of the appId.
  • Icon Image URL, an absolute URL to a square PNG, JPG or SVG. A preview appears below the field.

Click Save Changes. These settings are saved in the Worker's database (app_settings).

Delete App Data

Delete App Data removes every event the app has sent. A dialog shows how many events will go and asks you to confirm. Display names and the app's icon and display name settings are kept. The deletion can't be undone from the dashboard.

Users

Users lists every user ID that has sent events, most recently active first, 50 per page. Each card shows the ID, its event count, when it was last seen, and the app it used last. Type in Search by User ID... to filter.

A user ID is the identifier the Swift package sends as user_id (see What Is Collected Automatically).

User Details

Click a user to see:

  • Total Events, Sessions, Apps Used and First Seen, plus when they were last seen.
  • Apps: each app this user has sent events from, with the event count and last use. Click an app to filter the activity to it, and Clear Filter to show all again.
  • Recent Activity: the latest 50 events, newest first, with the app, platform and time. Identical events from the same app within five minutes are combined and shown with a count, such as 3x.

Events with metadata show it in a small viewer. Visual shows a key and value table that recognizes booleans, links, colors and comma-separated lists; JSON shows the raw data. You can search the properties and copy the raw JSON.

Use the copy button next to the ID to copy it. To delete:

  • Delete User Data removes every event for this user ID, across all apps.
  • The trash icon next to an event in Recent Activity removes that one event.

Settings

Settings has three preferences. They are saved in your browser's local storage, so each browser keeps its own.

SettingWhat it does
Pretty Format Event NamesShows text_hello_event as "Text Hello Event". A display name you set with Rename Event always wins.
Default Time RangeThe range the Overview uses: Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days or Last 90 Days.
Compact ModeLess whitespace in lists and tables.

Update Notices

Once a day, the dashboard checks GitHub for the latest Oddlytics release. If it's newer than the dashboard you're running, a notice appears with View Release and Dismiss. Dismissing hides the notice for that version.
