BeaverRelease 1.1.0

Privacy & Data

Beaver runs on your Mac. It has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it doesn't send your files or library anywhere.

What Beaver stores and where

Your files stay where they are, in the folders you link. Beaver keeps its own data in one folder on your Mac:

~/Library/Application Support/beaver/dam-data/
ItemLocationContents
Library databasedam-data/dam.db (plus dam.db-wal and dam.db-shm while Beaver is open)Linked folder paths and aliases; each asset's path, name, size, dimensions and color palette; your tags, ratings, favorites, titles, notes and source URLs; your settings
Thumbnailsdam-data/thumbnails/Small WebP previews of images, videos and EPS files

To open this folder, choose Go > Go to Folder in Finder and paste the path above.

Beaver only changes files in your linked folders when you ask it to: renaming, moving, duplicating, deleting (to the Trash), creating a subfolder, or saving a background-removed copy.

What leaves your Mac

Beaver doesn't check for updates, report crashes or collect usage data.

Permissions

Beaver doesn't request any special permissions. When you link a folder in a protected location, such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads or an external drive, macOS may ask whether Beaver can access it. Beaver needs that access to read and manage the files you've linked. You can review it in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders.

Export and delete your data

Beaver doesn't have an export feature. Your files are always plain files in your own folders, so there's nothing to get back out.

To remove part of your library, unlink the folder from the sidebar. Beaver deletes that folder's thumbnails and library entries and leaves the files alone.

To remove everything Beaver has stored:

  1. Quit Beaver.
  2. Delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/beaver.
  3. Drag Beaver from Applications to the Trash if you're uninstalling it.

Your linked folders and their files aren't affected.
