StillockRelease 2026.10.1

Notes

The Notes tab is for journals, plans and anything else you write. Notes are plain text with a title and a body. They're encrypted on your device and save as you type.

Write a note

  1. In Notes, tap the new note button in the top-right corner, or New Note.
  2. Type a title. Press Return to move to the body.
  3. Write. Stillock saves a moment after you stop typing, and again when you leave the note or Stillock locks.
  4. Tap the check mark to put the keyboard away, or go back to the list.

The top of the note shows the folder it's in. The More menu has Move and Delete Note.

If you clear all the text from a note, it moves to Recently Deleted instead of staying as a blank note. Restoring it brings back the last text it had.

Find and sort notes

The list shows your folders first, then your notes. Tap the sort button for Sort By: Date Edited, Date Created or Title. The same menu has New Folder.

Swipe a note, or touch and hold it, for Move and Delete. Deleted notes stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.

The Search tab finds notes by their title or text. See Search.

Keyboard privacy

  • Private Keyboard is on by default. It turns off autocorrect and predictive text in notes and in search, so the iOS keyboard doesn't learn words you type in Stillock and suggest them in other apps. Change it in Settings › Privacy.
  • Third-party keyboards can't be used anywhere in Stillock, because they can read what you type.
  • Writing Tools are turned off in notes.

Dictation is the iOS feature, not part of Stillock, and Apple may process what you say.

Notes on more than one device

With iCloud Sync, notes appear on every device that opens your vault. If the same note is changed on two devices while they're apart, Stillock keeps both versions. The other one appears as a separate note ending in (conflict copy).

What notes don't do

Notes are plain text only, with no formatting, images or attachments. Keep files such as PDFs in Media. There's no way to export a single note as a file. Notes are included in backups.
