D&D Tools
Realm Lore includes optional tools for running tabletop games, built around D&D 5th edition. They're in beta and turned off until you enable them.
Turn on the tools
- Open Settings > General.
- Under D&D / TTRPG Tools, turn on Enable DnD Tools.
- Turn individual tools on or off below it. The Campaign Dashboard, Spells List and Items List are always shown while the tools are on.
The tools appear under a DnD Tools heading in the sidebar. Press ⌘D to jump to the first one. Turning the tools on also adds a D&D Stat Block tab to character and creature pages. See Wiki Entries.
INFO
Tool data such as combatants, dice history, encounter tables and spell slots is saved in the app, not in a world. It stays the same when you switch worlds.
Campaign Dashboard
One screen with the Initiative Tracker, Quick Dice and a Quick Compendium of monsters, spells and items. The tracker and dice share their data with the full tools below.
Dice Roller
- Quick Roll: click d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d% to roll one die. Right-click a die to add it to the pool instead.
- Dice Pool: build a roll such as 2d6 + 1d4 with the +d4 to +d% buttons, set a modifier with Mod, then click Roll. Click a die in the pool to remove it, or Clear to start over.
- Advantage and Disadvantage: when the pool is a single d20, roll two and keep the higher or lower.
The result shows the total and each die. Critical Hit! and Fumble are flagged on a natural maximum or a 1. Roll History keeps your last 20 rolls.
Initiative Tracker
Add combatants:
- Enter a Name, Init, HP and AC and click + Add. Leave Init blank to roll a d20 for it.
- Or click Import Lore and pick a character or creature from your world. Its HP and AC come from its D&D stat block.
Run combat: click Start Combat. The tracker shows the round and whose turn it is. Click Next Turn to move on, ← to go back, and Reset to start again. Clear All removes everyone.
On each combatant:
- Use − and + to adjust HP, or expand the row to enter an Amount and click Damage, Heal or Full.
- Toggle Conditions, including Concentration.
- At 0 HP, track Death Saves with three success and three failure marks.
- Imported combatants have a Lore link to their page.
Encounter Tables
Random tables you roll on during play. Two examples, Forest Encounters and City Streets, are included.
- Click + New Table to add one, and click a table's name to rename it.
- Choose the die (d4 to d100) and add results with Add encounter result…. Each result has a range you can edit, such as
3or1-4. - Click Roll to roll and see the result.
Spell Slots
- Enter a Character name, choose a caster preset (Wizard / Sorcerer / Bard, Cleric / Druid, Paladin / Ranger, Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Warlock (Pact Magic) or Custom) and click + Add.
- Click a slot to spend it, and click a spent slot to get it back.
- Click Long Rest to restore all slots, or Edit Slots to set the maximum slots for each level.
Condition Reference
The rules text for all 15 standard conditions, including each level of Exhaustion. Use Search conditions… to find one.
Loot Generator
Set the Challenge Rating (0 to 30), the number of Gemstones and whether to Include magic items, then click Generate Loot. The hoard lists coins, gems with their value in gold, and items. Recent Hoards keeps your last 10.
Names
A quick NPC name tool. Choose a race (Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Tiefling, Orc, Dragonborn or Gnome), male or female, and how many names (1 to 20), then click Generate Names. Click the star next to a name to keep it in Saved Names.
For more name types, and to turn names into entries, use the main Name Generator.
Spells List and Items List
Searchable lists that combine three sources, each marked with a badge:
| Badge | Source |
|---|---|
| local | Spells or items you've added to the list yourself |
| realm | Things and Lore in your world. For spells, those whose type is Spell. |
| srd | The built-in reference list |
Add your own with the form at the top (Spell Name, Level, School and description, or Item Name, type and rarity). Click To World on one of your own spells or items to create it as a Thing in the active world.
